We’re looking for a farmer to join our team!

Position: Clubhouse Farm Manager – Apply today!

2018 Applications reviewed on a rolling basis

We’re looking for the right person to help us grow!

Who we are and what we do:

Healthy food, environment, and community create the optimum platform for child development. The Clubhouse Farm has 6.5 acres of arable land, but it grows more than just food – we grow within our community the skills and ability to grow food in the future. This productive farm provides spaces where children can be active, build creativity, lower stress, and learn about growing fresh foods.

Produce is sold at the farm gate market, and to community partners with industrial kitchens. Veggies, fruit and herbs also go home with the children – when children are a part of growing healthy, nutritious food, they are more likely to eat it, and feel an immense sense of pride when they share it with their families!

The Clubhouse Farm offers outdoor classroom spaces for 1500 children a year. School groups visit to engage in lessons that meet BC curriculum requirements, while children get opportunities to engage and connect with the natural environment. We have three major outdoor classroom spaces:

  • The Forest Classroom is found in our adjacent wildlife corridor with three distinct ecosystems. It is home to local wildlife and is an ideal space to learn about ecology, lifecycles, seasons, and more!
  • The Field Classroom has space to roam, play, dig, climb, explore and relax. The art pavilion is a place for ecoart and wood work, where we build bird and bat houses.
  • The Farm Classroom is The Farm Manager’s area of expertise! Here, children can learn in a more structured manner for short lessons – about compost, worms, planting, growing, harvesting, diverse foods, soils, and more! As a guide in this space, you will have the support of the educators that come with the group, and of the Clubhouse Farm Program Manager.

Your role on the team

Help frame and create the Clubhouse Farm as a place of production, learning, and community development. You will lead our team towards our production goals. The Clubhouse Farm has been in production for five years, and we’re looking for you to help steward and grow this innovative initiative well into the future. If you love to share your farming knowledge, and love growing and sharing healthy food, then this is the place for you.

In your role, you will:

  • Manage year-round farm and site logistics, crop planning, pest, soil and tool management

  • Grow good food, and sell $15,000-20,000 from the land through the Farm Gate Market, community partners, and our education programs

  • Help our farm grow and change to meet our 10-year plan.

  • Work with the Clubhouse Farm Program Manager toward successful growth.

  • Support the growth and development of our food forest and herb gardens

  • Share your farming knowledge in short guided activities for school age children, with the Clubhouse Farm Program Manager
