We are now taking registrations for 3 and 4 year old preschool at The Clubhouse at Casorso for September 2018. Preschool orientation will be held on a date to be announced about a week after the school year starts. Parents are asked to stay with their children on the orientation day to encourage a soft transition into the school schedule. The following Monday will be the start of a regular preschool week.
Held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00am to 11:30am and snack is provided.
Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:30 and snack is provided.
Our preschool follows the School District 23 calendar. We will be closed on statutory holidays and district wide professional development days. Check out the SD23 Calendar for exact dates.
The Curriculum: a Play-Based Approach to Preschool
Children need many opportunities to explore and engage with the natural world around them. By offering access to the outdoors – and the many plants, creatures and conditions to spark interest, insight, and conversation – we offer a broad platform for optimum early cognitive, social and physical development.
Our curriculum includes an Early Literacy component that has been mentored through School District #23, and aims to provide a holistic learning experience for each and every child. Spending time playing, experimenting, getting creative, and relaxing in nature in all seasons engages our senses in many more ways than the indoors can, and has been scientifically shown to benefit children’s development. From eyesight development and improving concentration, to developing imagination, social skills, risk assessment and problem solving skills, spending time outside benefits each and every child’s overall health and well-being.
We are very excited to welcome Teacher Jennifer to our Clubhouse Educator Team. She holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education and a certificate in Special Needs from Okanagan College.
Born and raised in Kelowna, Jennifer loves the outdoors. You can often find her hiking at Okanagan Mountain park with her husband and three daughters, or out for a swim at Bertram Creek park.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with your children. I believe that children thrive in an environment that allows for exploration with all their five senses. As well, I believe that children will learn everything they need to know socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually through play.
Children are competent individuals who seek to do the best they can when they can. Therefore classroom expectations should be flexible and age appropriate. I believe that when children are surrounded with patient adults and given the proper tools they are capable of problem solving.
I value children’s perspectives and feelings. I view my interactions with children as an opportunity to model kindness, empathy and respect for one another. Building relationships with children, families and caregivers is crucial for the success of the child.” – Jennifer Mitzel, ECE.
